About Us

History:

Since its formation in Chicago in 1986 Overton Consulting has been providing tailored executive search service to its clients. In only three years Overton grew to be one Chicago’s top 25 retained executive search firms as reported by Crain’s Chicago Business. In 1991 Overton Consulting relocated to Mequon Wisconsin. The Milwaukee Business Journal listed Overton Consulting as the largest retained executive search firm headquartered in Wisconsin in 1999. DHR International, the fifth largest executive search firm in the world, acquired Overton Consulting in 2004. Re-emerging in 2013 as The Overton Group, it has now returned to providing executive search services in Wisconsin.

Confidentiality:

It is important for us to be very sensitive to the nature of the information we may learn from our clients and non-disclosure is an important aspect of our relationship. Special precautions are taken with clients covered under the GLB Act.

Urgency:

There is always a certain amount of urgency to filling a position and our business model is designed to address our client’s needs. Our target is to present an initial slate of candidates to the client within twenty business days. However, since you will expect a dedicated long term commitment from whomever you employ, it is reasonable to exert great care and if need be, time, in making the final choice.


Justin V. Strom

justin v stromJustin has been involved with executive search, staffing and human resources for nearly forty years in both consulting and senior executive positions. He led Overton Consulting for 18 years until DHR International, with more than 50 offices worldwide, acquired Overton Consulting in 2004. Justin was appointed Executive Vice President of its Milwaukee office.

Newtek Business Services, a NASDQ listed. New York City based company and a client; recruited Justin to join it as Senior Vice President, Human Resources in 2007. Newtek was converting from a portfolio company to an operating company and Justin’s role was to ensure smooth transformation of Newtek’s seven independent business units into one organization.

Earlier, prior to founding Overton Consulting, Justin was the Corporate Director of Recruiting and College Relations for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. In this position, he had direct responsibility for all U.S. professional and executive employment, as well as third country international executive recruiting. Responsibilities also included overseeing executive outplacement activities in the U.S. His prior experience was with a Seattle Washington headquartered seafood processing firm.

Justin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. His M.B.A. work was done at University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.

In addition to his professional experience, Justin is an elected county supervisor in Ozaukee County WI. He has served as a director of a small financial institution and two service firms. He has been active in his parish, schools and various professional societies and associations throughout his career. Through Rotary, Justin is a Paul Harris fellow. He and his wife Sue live in Mequon WI.
