Overton Group History

The Overton Group was formed in Chicago in 1987. In three years Overton had grown to be one Chicago’s top 25 retained executive search firms as reported by Crain’s Chicago Business. In 1991 Justin and his family relocated to Mequon Wisconsin and opened a Wisconsin office of Overton. By 1999 Overton was ranked by Milwaukee Business Journal as the largest retained executive search firm in Wisconsin. In 2004 DHR International, the fifth largest executive search firm in the world, acquired Overton and Justin and several of the team continued serving their clients as part of DHR. After nearly three years with DHR, Justin was recruited by a rapidly growing client to become its Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Overton Group has now returned to the executive search arena in Wisconsin.

Consultant Profiles

Justin V. Strom

Justin founded The Overton Group in 1986 as a boutique executive search firm offering tailored consulting services to its clients. Most recently Justin has been the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for a New York City based public company. Prior to founding Overton, Justin was the Corporate Director of Recruiting and College Relations for Kimberly-Clark, a FORTUNE 100 corporation. In this position, he had direct responsibility for all U.S. professional and executive employment, as well as third country international executive recruiting. Responsibilities also included outplacement activities in the U.S. His early experience was with a Seattle Washington seafood processing firm in several administrative positions. Justin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. His M.B.A. work was done at University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. In addition to his professional experience, Justin has served as a director of a small financial institution and two service firms. He has been active in various professional societies and associations throughout his career. Justin is an active Rotarian and a Paul Harris fellow.

Mary Ellen De Haven

Mary Ellen is an experienced Human Resources senior executive with a history of proven results. Her career spans over 25 years in financial services and insurance industries as well as academic and non-profit institutions. Her background includes corporate and consulting roles in strategy development, talent acquisition, employee relations, corporate culture transformation, career transition, executive coaching and compensation. She is a skilled facilitator, project manager and business line partner. Mary Ellen was selected to lead several national cross-functional teams in merger and acquisition environments as well as quality improvement projects. She was honored with the YWCA Outstanding Women of Achievement Award. She held both national and regional Human Resource Management positions as Vice-President at US Bank, Allstate Insurance and most recently Associated Bank. As a consultant, Mary Ellen conducted research for Alverno College that identified management traits and competencies. Mary Ellen holds a Master of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Cardinal Stritch University and completed her thesis on Quality Improvement. Her undergraduate degree is from St. Norbert College and she is a Certified Administrator of MBTI.

Catherine Huart

Catherine began with Overton Group in 1986 as its sole research professional. Later she began supervising others in the research function. When Overton Group relocated to Milwaukee, Catherine continued her responsibilities working from her home in Chicago. Previously Catherine was the Manager of Human Resources for Credit Lyonnais and Banca di Roma in Chicago. Catherine received her undergraduate degree from the St. Mary's of Notre Dame
